Earth Week 2019

Each year, Student for Environmental Concerns hosts UIUC's official Earth Week! The theme this year is Environment, Migration, and Justice. Currently, the UN estimates that 10 million people are currently displaced by climate-related changes and events; 65 million people are displaced worldwide by all causes.

We believe in an environmentalism that supports all the world's citizens and their rights to clean air and water, nutritious food, and safe housing. To remain relevant and just in the modern era, environmentalists should work to provide equitable access to these rights, support social justice movements, and be aware of the impact of high-brow sustainability efforts. Achieving the goals of the green movement in the U.S. must not come at the expense of basic human rights for people in other countries, particularly for communities in the Global South.

We will be hosting events on and around campus from April 22-27. See the official facebook page for more details and live updates!
