September 5 SECS Meeting

Wondering what happened on the 5th?

Earth Week: Reviewed last year's schedule, and each member chose their favorite event/activity to carry out again during Earth Week 2013. We narrowed it down to having a clothing and electronics drive throughout the week, hosting a movie on the quad, having a "plant a plant" event, getting a key note speaker, having a BBQ with Professors, and doing a benefit concert. We chose specific days for these events as well.

We also began looking into which movie we would want to play on the quad and discuss locations for the BBQ with Professors.

Beyond Coal: Chalking on the quad (pictures are on the Facebook page) to bring visibility to the campaign in preparation for the kick-off meeting (tentative date Sept 20th at the Y)

Weatherization: Took a look at the infrared scanner, worked on the presentation. Discussed and planned upcoming activities.

Native Planting: Went to two different native plantings, that our group planted last year.  We used this as an opportunity to experience what we accomplished last year, and also to get a feel for what we could potentially do this year.

Education: Split up into subcommittees and work on your kickoff events in September for the Bottled Water Campaign
