Happy Halloween!

Thank you all for attending Food Day! It was amazing. We're sorry for running out of food halfway through the event (didn't anticipate such a large turn out) but we hope everyone enjoyed hearing the guest speakers! By the way, you can check out photos from Food Day in our Photos section.

This Tuesday be on the look out for two events:
-From 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM SECS will be hosting a FREE bike tune-up session. Look for a table located north of the Henry Admin Building on the Quad.
-Join SECS and many other concerned students at Occupy the Quad going from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM

The SECS Bike tune-up is just one of many events of UIUC's 2011 Sustainability Week. Sustainability Week is hosted by the Office of Sustainability and consists of various events and activities to promote a more sustainable lifestyle in the Champaign-Urbana community. For more detailed information of what's to come this week in regards to Sustainability Week, please visit: http://sustainability.illinois.edu/2011SustainabilityWeek.html

Occupy the Quad is an event following the trend of various other "Occupy" sessions that aims to promote reformation of our university. While not hosted by SECS, our organization is supporting the movement and members are encouraged participate. Be sure to come out to this Wednesday's meeting, for after some quick announcements and project updates SECS will walk together to the Foellinger Auditorium to hear Robert F. Kennedy Jr speak! Robert F. Kennedy Jr. is a renowned environmentalist as well as chief prosecuting attorney for the Hudson Riverkeepers, senior attorney for the Natural Resources Defense Council, and president of the Waterkeeper Alliance. This is a wonderful opportunity that doesn't come very often, which is why SECS is dedicating the majority of its meeting to round up a group to attend. That's it for now. Be sure to look out for our Newsletter to learn about later upcoming events! The Newsletter will give you a broader overview of upcoming events throughout the week, whereas this blog will give you more detailed information but in shorter time frames. Check back on this blog after Wednesday for more detailed information of what's to come! Friday's presentation in particular is going to be a real treat!
