First Energy Audit!

Here is an update from Katie, project coordinator of the Weatherization project. You can learn more by visiting the Current Projects page.

Weatherization has just completed our very first Energy Audit at St. Jude's Catholic Worker House! Yay! St. Jude's is a housing cooperative that works to house people where unfortunate circumstances have left them without a home. This organization is run out of a large, old house less than a mile from campus in Champaign, and has a lot of potential for saving energy.

Our next steps will be to research large changes we could facilitate with the building, as well as have a weatherization day. This will take place in about two weeks, and we will be caulking around windows, doors, and especially in the attic. We will also insulate some water pipes, maybe air ducts, and tackle a few more lightbulbs.

In the meantime we want to look into some federal, state, and campus grant opportunities. We also want to look research other renovations we might be interested in.
