HUMANS OF SECS: CARLOS CRUZ

It’s time for another Humans of SECS! Today, we’d like you to meet Carlos Cruz, our current treasurer. Carlos has been a member of SECS for nearly four years and has been our treasurer since last spring. Prior to serving as treasurer, Carlos was a part of our Weatherization/Sustainable Business sub-committees. He is a senior studying Finance, and is also part of the Illinois Men’s Rugby Club.

“My proudest moment with SECS was back before the Weatherization group changed to the Sustainable Business Committee. We created kits with simple, DIY products that could be used to insulate homes and improve energy efficiency. We worked with a local church to present the kits and explain their use to the church's constituents, offering follow-up help with installation if needed. To me, stewardship to the environment is stewardship to humanity; that project exemplified our innate connection to the earth and everyone on it, regardless of differences.”
